 So, using my Ultra-Persuasive techniques, I've managed to get myself the Function Room I wanted to film in, possibly for free if I do it during the day, when it isn't being used. I'll be sorting out, with my actors, a date which is suitable for everyone soon, and trying to get everything Okay'd with The Woodshaw Inn.

My Possible location choices

Yesterday, I went on a hunt for a location to film my Performance Music video in. I went around Royal Wootton Bassett, on a search for the Run-Down stage of my dreams... Here's where I visited;

 My first location was the Function Room in the "Old Nick", a Public house which was once a police station. This room is free for use. I visited this location because, visiting before, I remembered it being very grey, dull, a messy grey room with a stage at the back. It seemed like it'd be perfect for the job. However unfortunately, since my last visit to this function room, it's been repaired, repainted, and the walls covered with white sheets. Today, it's used for Wedding parties. It's a shame, but I don't think that in it's current form it'd be suitable for my Music video, unless I was going for a contrast.

However, I have been told that performances from bands in the Old Nick often take place in the main Pub now. They usually move the Pool table out the way and set up a stage in the corner of the room, setting up their instruments and speaker systems and setting out some lighting. This looks a little more acceptable, and I recon it'll work a little better for my video.

 This Function room is part of the "Phoenix Inn", on the highstreet, and houses a stage and a dance floor. Although I have little use for the dance floor, the stage could be dressed up to give the run-down effect I'm trying to convey. I feel it'd work reasonably well for my video, but it costs £100 to hire. I don't know whether I can afford this.

 This little room is part of the Woodshaw Inn, and was my last location yesterday. The clutter, the dull walls, the cheap furnishings- While this would likely be cleared up for a party or a performance, I think it'd look Perfect for my video! The room costs just £30 to use, so it's very possible. However, This room lacks a stage. They have attempted, in the past, to install one, but due to the low sealing and the limited space, it couldn't work. However, setting up our own stage, or simply not using a stage, could add to the effect I'm going for. This's perhaps the perfect place for my music video.

Other places I visited yesterday include the Red Lion Inn, which houses a giant Pub Theatre. However, I was not allowed to view it, as the owner of the theatre was not present. I may visit some other time, to see if I can get a good deal on another suitable room. I also visited the Memorial Hall, but it was locked, and when we knocked there was no reply.

EDIT;
So, on Friday the 4th of October, I visited the Memorial Hall again. I'd organised with the caretaker to take a look around.

The main hall of the Memorial Hall.

Behind the Stage curtains.

 I think this's definetely overkill. No question about it. It's large, has some complex lighting effects and has a pretty big stage we can do a lot with, but I don't think we need all this space. While the lighting is helpful, to keep the Punk-y style, I think it'd be better to keep effects to a minimum. Lastly, I'm not sure I can afford to hire this hall anywho.

 My favourite function room, of the available choices, remains the Woodshaw Inn.

Video Types

Most videos are filmed in one of four ways. These Types of videos are listed below;

 Narrative- A music video with a story based on the song, which is portrayed throughout the song. It's often used in pop music.

Performance- A simple video, showing the band or artist performing the song, possibly on a stage. This style is usually favoured by rock bands. It shows the artists as being more talented with their instruments, and makes it feel more real and perhaps truthful.

Hybrid- A mixture of narrative and Performance type videos. Might click from being one to another throughout the song.

Abstract- A type of video which may not have any relation to the music. It might not reflect the mood nor style of the song.

I think that the most relevant way for me to present my band would be through a Performance music video. This would give my audience a believable and realistic view of my band, and represent it as being more truthful than other bands. This would be handy, concidering the political nature of Punk Rock Songs. I feel it'll also give room for showing off their talent with their instruments,

Focus Group

 I held a Focus Group to find out what my audience thinks I should do for my music video, Digipak and Website Designs.

 I asked them about some of my designs, for my Digipak, Website, and the storyboards for my music video. Their responces will be included below.

Digipaks

My Focus Group's favourite Digipak Design

 Firstly, I asked their opinions on my Digipak designs. They generally preffered my Puppet design. They thought the puppet theme went well with "Cutting Strings", and found the message to be meaningful. They also found the design generally attractive with it's use of bold, eye-catching colours.

Websites

My Focus Group's favourite Website Design

 Afterwards, I showed them my Website designs. Again, their favourite design was the puppet design. Using a similar theme throughout my texts will also make the product more recognisable for my audience too, so this is a result I'm pretty happy with.
 My focus group thought I should do more with my home page- Perhaps add links around the site, some more images to make it more interesting. I'll rethink what I want to do with this page, to make it more attractive, and somewhat useful. It was also suggested that the Navbar be changed to make it look more as though it's part of the theme.

Music Video Storyboards

My Focus Group's favourite Storyboard

 Lastly, I showed my Focus Group my storyboards.

My Band; Ghost Sector

Ghost Sector is an American Punk Rock band, and the band I'm planning on doing my Music Video for. Below is my pitch.

Website Designs

I'm keeping the designs for my products visually similar to my last project, using the style as a sort of Motif. It'll make the Digipak, website and video recognisable as being from the same artist, and will help ake my artist more noticeable.
